The Kailua Ocean Front Hideaway is about as close as you can stay to the ocean in Kailua.
We have 2 separate rentals available. A 2 bedroom / 2 bath Ocean Side rental, and a 2 bedroom / 1 bath Mountain Side rental.
In our Ocean Side rental, both Bedrooms, the Kitchen, and the Living Room face out to an incredible ocean view of beautiful Kailua Bay.
In our Mountain Side rental the Master Bedroom has a view of beautiful Kailua Bay and the other rooms have a mountain view.
On wavy days you can feel the light ocean spray as soon as you step outside of either rental. Both rentals share the back yard/beach area so everyone can enjoy the same Ocean View from the yard/beach.
The sandy beach area in back has a "private feel" because it is not a swimming beach (waves are too large and it is rocky) so we don't get the constant traffic of people, dogs, parties at night, etc... It is very rare to see anything other than the beautiful view and it is always very quiet.
You can soak up the sun on your "almost private beach" and relax with a drink while you watch the waves roll in.
Swimming is available at beautiful Kailua Beach (View Photos) & Lanikai Beach (View Photos) which are both within 10 minutes of the Hideaway. Lanikai Beach was the #1 Beach in America according to Dr. Beach in 1996, and Kailua Beach won the same honor in 1998.
Two other very popular beaches 1/2 hour away include Hanauma Bay (View Photos) which won the #1 Beach in America in 2004, and Ko Olina (View Photos), which is the nicest resort/beach on the island.
Be sure to also visit Turtle Cove (View Photos) which is a small sheltered cove 2 blocks away. This area is not really known except to local residents and there is always a bunch of Sea Turtles swimming around in the shallows. You can snorkel here or just wade in to watch the turtles. The water depth is usually from 1 foot to 4 feet.
At night the stress melts away while you listen to the gentle sounds of the waves. A nice breeze is almost always blowing to cool the Hideaway. All bedrooms have window Air Conditioners to make sure you are always cool and comfortable. In the morning wake up to a spectacular sunrise (View Photo) as the sun pops up from the ocean’s horizon.
The Hideaway is at the end of a cul-de-sac, so there are no traffic sounds. Nestled between the Ocean on one side and the cul-de-sac on the other side means the Hideaway is one of the most quiet and peaceful places to stay in Kailua.
Attention Parents: Kailua & Lanikai Beach have many very small pieces of plastic in the sand and the beach in our back yard has very tiny lead pellets in the sand and rocks. Small children and babies who might put sand in their mouths at either beach should always be supervised.

If you are not comfortable going up a flight of stairs please do not rent either unit. All bedrooms are on the 2nd floor and both units have stairs to get into them.
The Hideaway is part of a Triplex. It has a separate entry area for the vacation rentals and everything is separated. Another section of the Triplex is lived in by the owner, Bryn & Ellen Kaufman. Because you are located with the owners you can be assured you will be staying in a quiet, comfortable environment.

....Just what we wanted. It would appear that we might be frequent visitors to Oahu. Should that be the case, we would be pleased to stay again at the Hideaway. We found the home to be tasteful and quiet and orderly and in a good location. We felt the price was one we could afford as relatively frequent visitors. And we miss the sound of the surf crashing

This is a very nice and functional property. It is a few steps from a small, beautiful beach. And, it has great access to nearby grocery stores and restaurants. Ideal for families with children.

I am home now and wanted to drop you a note saying thank you. Your rentals were everything and more. The attention to details and the turn key aspect of the house really made the week easy for us. The kitchen was completely stocked with everything we needed to cook. The beds were really comfortable. Having a washer helped keep towels for everyone. We ended up having 10 people which is a large crowd for any house.
Location was amazing - right up against the water. Owners provided all the essentials including hair dryer, iron/ironing board, beach necessities, kitchen supplies, guide books, etc. Overall, it was a nice place with a great beachfront location and the owners seemed to go out of their way to make sure you had everything you'd need during your stay.
My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hideway Ocean side unit. My 5 year old boys made instant friends with the kids on the col de sac where the house is located. The tidepools out the back door were wonderful for exploring. I enjoyed sleeping and waking to the sound of the surf and moon and sun rise. The location is very convenient to grocery shopping and short drive to some of the best beaches. The kitchen is well supplied, there are plenty of towels, beach gear, etc. A very comfortable place to stay. Aloha!
If you're looking for a place away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, this is it. The sound of the ocean waves will put you right to sleep at night, and you'll awaken with a beautiful sunrise over the ocean right outside your bedroom window. We were pleasantly surprised to have found this rental, and would definately reccommend it to anyone wanting to stay on the windward side of Oahu.
The accommodations were very nice lots of towels and beach equipment available. Every morning we walked to Turtle Cove and watched the turtles swim around. Also, it was nice to sit on the beach drink our coffee and watch the sun rise. We really enjoyed staying on this windward side of the island and all of the peace and quiet. It was definately a wonderful peaceful vacation and Kailua beach is so beautiful.
This was a very nice stay, right on the beach, away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. We would recommend staying in a house rental for any future travel...Much better than a Hotel.
Very good location. a little smaller than I had anticipated but with the small computer room attached to the living room that more than accomodated for the size. The neighborhood was very nice and quiet with shops/restaurants very close.
Thank you so much for the use of the Hideaway. It was very well stocked. We made use of the boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, washer & dryer, and grill. Of course we enjoyed the sound of the waves crashing on the shore.
Many times we went to Turtle Cove & got to see Turtles. The DVD's and books about Hawaii helped make our decisions on what to do, since we had no prior plan.
We are Air Force retired and were totally blessed when we found out the Marine Base was so close.

I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for our stay in Kailua. We absolutely loved your place and the surrounding area. The view from your house was incredible! My only complaint is that I wish we could have stayed longer but we still had to more islands to visit and only 2 weeks to do it.

Our family enjoyed most of all the quiet ambience of the rental and the magnificent view of the ocean. The unit was clean, and we also enjoyed the small computer room and the computer access. The rental arrangements and the directions were excellent. Our older daughter was on crutches with a recently repaired broken leg, and the downstairs fold-out sofa was perfect. The wonderful ocean breezes and the great view were marvelous. We want to return for a longer time in the future.
The unit was clean, well appointed, and the location is very good, a residential neighbourhood, quiet, little trafic, safe and the best part is the close proximity to the beach. Our baby grandaughter loved playing in the yard and the small tidal pools. We had a great time. Thank you.
We had a wonderful stay in Kailua - everything was exactly as we had hoped it would be.
Hideaway Mountain Side Unit was excellent basic beachside accommodation in a beautiful quiet residential area - it was well equipped with everything we needed, right down to lovell soft beach towels - and we grarefully enjoyed the air-conditioning.
The unit is right on the shore, so that we could sit out of an evening and catch our breath. Swimming with the turtles at the local Turtle Cove was really special - particularly after the hurly burly of our one trip to Waikiki - and the availability of boogie boards and extra snorkells was great - allowed us to really make the most of our trips to the wonderful beaches of Oahu.
A day-trip to Big Island and its volcano was a day not to be forgotten, as was the trip to The Arizona at Pearl Harbour; and Hanauma Bay was fun, although there are some other equally lovely beaches around the Island and several areas of good snorkelling.
